Description
In the early 1950's, the Southern Pacific Railroad bought an ex-Boston & Maine 2-8-4 Berkshire to help out with the local frieght and passenger service in parts of California. From there on, the engine helped serve the SP until the later 1950's when it was scrapped due to the more power and efficientcy of the diesel electric.
When I first heard about this, I was surprised. As far as I'm concerned, this was the only Berkshire type to conquer the west coast of America. Don't believe me? Well, this [link] will prove my point.

Mmm, 2-8-4s, one of my favorites.
